Larry Horowitz: “Fresh Look: A Contemporary Vision of Cape Cod and the Vineyard"
Thursday, July 24th | 6-8 pmEisenhauer Gallery is pleased to present a solo presentation of new landscape paintings by Larry Horowitz. An opening celebration accompanied by music from Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish will take place on July 24, 2025 from 6-8pm. The exhibition will be on view from July 18, 2025 until July 30, 2025.
In a new group of paintings, Horowitz uncovers intimate corners wedged in an increasingly fast paced world. Utilizing artisanal materials like burlap, birch, and hand-crafted pastel pigments, Horowitz delves into the essence of a place: a cobblestone street corner in Edgartown, a boathouse on the harbor, a sandbar, a sunset under which beachcombers gather.
Larry Horowitz (b. 1956, New York City, NY) is an American modern landscape painter with Vineyard roots. In the early 70s, Horowitz studied under Bauhaus artist Maxim Bugzester, and in the early 80s was an apprentice to Martha’s Vineyard Color Field painter Wolf Kahn and Abstract Expressionist painter Emily Mason of the New York School. Horowitz blends historical Vineyard artistic tradition with contemporary visions of local landscapes, continuing an academic tradition of modernist plein air painting.

Janice Frame: Power of Community
Sunday, August 3rd | 6 - 8 pmEisenhauer Gallery is excited to present “Power of Community,” a solo exhibition of new work by Martha’s Vineyard-based artist/educator Janice Frame. An opening reception will take place on August 3rd, 2025.
In a new group of work, Janice Frame explores the concept of community and its innate ability to foster dialogue, inspire connection, and provoke thought about the beauty of shared human experience. Frame, a pioneer in multimedia collage, draws upon the heritage of African diaspora as a central influence. Women adorned with flowers, dragonflies, and intricate facial paint are set under glistening resin. The foundedness of cowrie shells, golden earrings, and pigmented fabrics is physically embedded within each work. Bound together by lineage, Frame’s subjects come together in communal celebration of African beauty.
